VERONICA!!! AKA V:]
I HAVE BEEN ATTENDING CHAFFEY COLLEGE SINCE THE FALL OF 2008
SOME OF THE "DO'S " FOR CHAFFEY COLLEGE ARE TO GET INVOLVED AROUND THE CAMPUS SUCH AS JOIN A TEAM, A CLUB OF SOME SORT, OR SOCIALIZE WITH OTHERS! BEING INVOLVED ON THE DANCE PROGRAM MADE IT MORE COMFORTABLE TO COME TO COLLEGE AS MY FIRST YEAR. ANOTHER ONE IS TO STAY FOCUSED IN CLASSES AND NOT TO GET EASILY DISTRACTED BY THE OTHER STUDENTS WHO DO NOT WANT TO SUCEED IN COLLEGE. DO PICK CLASSES THAT ARE TO YOUR INTEREST NOT JUST BECAUSE IT IS IN A SECTION THAT YOU NEED. TO PICK A CLASS THAT IS IN YOUR INTEREST IS EASIER TO PAY MORE ATTENTION AND TO HAVE MORE UNDERSTANDING TO LEARN ABOUT THAT SUBJECT.
SOME OF THE "DONT'S" ABOUT CHAFFEY IS TO GET SUCKED INTO THE SKIPPIN CLASS SICKNESS. IT IS LIKE IF YOU DO IT ONCE IT IS MUCH EASIER TO DO IT MORE AND THEN RESULTING IN FALLING BACK IN ASSIGNMENTS. DO NOT GET INTO PROCRASTINATION. KEEP UP WITH THE ASSIGNMENTS IN THE CLASS AND THE STRESS WILL BE LESS ON YOU AS A STUDENT RATHER THAN WORRYING AND STAYING UP LATE THE NIGHT BEFORE TRYING TO GET A PAPER DONE. ANOTHER "DON'T" FOR CHAFFEY IS DO NOT BE AFRIAD TO SPEAK UP IN CLASS. THE PROFESSORS LIKE TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY AND ANY QUESTION THAT YOU HAVE BECAUSE IT IS THEIR JOB TO HELP YOU LEARN ABOUT THEIR SUBJECT THEY ARE TEACHING AND TO HELP YOU HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF IT. AND TRY NOT TO GET DISTRCATED BY THE COMPUTERS THAT SOME CLASSES MAY HAVE ACESS TOO OR TO JUST BE TEXTING ON YOUR CELL PHONE DURING CLASS JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK THAT YOU HAVE A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS BEING SPOKEN OF IN THE CLASS.
OTHER THAN THOSE POINTS CHAFFEY IS A GOOD COLLEGE TO START OUT AT BEFORE HEADING TO THE BIGGER COLLEGES AROUND. THEY OFFER MANY GREAT CLASSES AND PROGRAMS TO TAKE AND BE INVOLVED. :]

The hardest endeavor that college freshmen must endure is time management. Managing your time to study or attend classes seems easy, but many obstacles can come abruptly. For instance, those with jobs have it the worst, because they have to work and come to school to receive a lecture; with studying. I recommend highly that college students commit themselves to becoming a full-time student. Hence, time is more flexible and simpler to manage since everything you do is within the school; in contrast when you work you need to commute more, which eats up time and money. DO NOT spend your money eating snacks in the cafeteria here at Chaffey College what I suggest is going somewhere else, but if you do not want to do that you can buy in the bookstore which is a bit cheaper.

Purchasing books can be a pain so it is highly recommended by most college students to purchase your book online. The only downside that I have seen is most people do not receive their books on-time. Furthermore when selling a book you might want to sell online too because the bookstore buyback is a total rip off.

Studying can be hard that’s why I 100% recommend going to SI session or more tutoring based programs.

Make sure you see the counselor for advice it helps you A LOT.

Some suggestions that I give out to new or returning students is that for sure Chaffey College is more affordable than the University. I have attended chaffey for about 2yrs now and money wise has never been a problem. Their is a lot of financial help that you can get here. Some of the do's is take advantage of the help that they offer here at chaffey. Free tutoring anywhere. Some dont's is..don't wait until the last minute to finish an assignment. Its a hassel! Something always happens in the last min.
And lastly good luck!

My name is Ana i been attending chaffey college for two semesters. It is creepy when its the first day at college, where many people attend, all with different goals and set of minds. However, college is a great place to start experiencing the new life. There are some don’ts and dos that you may consider when attending college in order to become successful.
Do’s
Ask questions when you do not interrupt the professor in the
Don’t understand something middle of the class

Gets on time for each class do not be late and expect the professor to teach it again

Participate in class groups and do not try to be funny and loud when
Activities it not appropriate

Attend to class on daily bases even
Though the teacher don’t take role do not miss class because you can you are the one who is going to pay the consequences on your grade

Check by yourself what you need do not expect your professors to
to turn in and when babysit you.

iVE ATTENDED CHAFFEY NOW FOR 2 YEARS AND iVE LEARNED ALOT THROUGH OUT THiS EXPERiENCE. iTS WAY DiFFERENT FROM HiGH SCHOOL, BUT YET THE SAME iN A SENSE THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE FROM MY HiGH SCHOOL CAME HERE SO iTS LiKE HiGH SCHOOL ALL OVER AGAiN JUST iN A COLLEGE SETTiNG. BUT ME SPEAKiNG AS A CURRENT STRUGGLiNG COLLEGE STUDENT, SOME OF THE DO'S THAT i WOULD LiKE TO ADDRESS TO HELP THE iNCOMiNG STUDENTS AT CHAFFEY iS MAiNLY DONT SKiP CLASS UNLESS iT iS A REAL EMERGENCY. JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT FEEL LiKE GOiNG TO CLASS ONE DAY iT WiL HURT YOUR GRADE iN THE FUTURE..BECAUSE MAYBE THAT DAY YOUR CLASS WENT OVER iMPORTANT iNFORMATiON iN WHiCH YOU CANT MAKE UP BECAUSE THE CLASS JUST MOVES ON WiTH OR WiTH OUT YOU. SO ALWAYS GO TO CLASS EVEN iF YOU ABSOLUTELY DONT WANT TO. ANOTHER "DO" iS ALWAYS ASK QUESTiONS. DONT BE AFRAiD TO ASK BECAUSE SOME ONE ELSE iN THE CLASS MAY HAVE THE SAME QUESTiON AND THE BOTH OF YOU COULD BENiFiT FROM THAT ONE QUESTiON BEiNG ANSWERED. ALSO KEEP ALL YOUR ASSiGNMENTS UP TO DATE AND TURN THEM iN ON TiME THAT WAY YOU HAVE NO WORRiES ABOUT iT BEiNG LATE OR HAViNG TO DEDUCT POiNTS FROM THE ASSiGNMENT WHiCH CAUSES A LOWER GRADE. MOST iMPORTANTLY STAY iNVOLVED WiTH THE CLASS AND ALL THE ASSiGNMENTS!
BUT THE "DONTS" THAT MOST STUDENTS TEND TO FALL iN TO THE PATH OF iS SKiPPiNG CLASS ALOT. AS FOR ME BEiNG A STUDENT SKiPPiNG CLASS iS WAY EASiER THEN iN HiGH SCHOOL. BECAUSE WEATHER OR NOT YOU ATTEND CLASS THE TEACHER iS STiL DOiNG HER JOB AND YOU MiSS OUT ON A HOLE DAY OF CLASS WHiCH MOST LiKELY HAVE KEY POiNTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT DAY iN CLASS! SO DONT SKiP CLASS AT LEAST TRY NOT TO. ALSO DONT PROCRATiNATE ON PROJECTS. GiVE YOUR SELF ENOUGH TiME TO DO ALL THE REQUiREMENTS FOR THE PROJECT THAT WAY iT COMES OUT TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABiLiTY TO GET THE BEST GRADE POSSiBLE!

FOR ANOTHER "DONT" DONT GET BEHiND ON ASSiGNMENT THiS TiES iNTO THE SKiPPiNG CLASS BECAUSE SKiPPiNG CLASS RESULTS iN GETTiNG BEHiND ON ASSiGNMENTS!
SO AS FOR MY ADViCE, STAY iN SCHOOL AND ATTEND AS MUCH CLASS TiME AS YOU CAN AND ALWAYS STAY UP WiTH THE ASSiGNMENTS AND DONT GET BEHiND iT WiLL RUiN YOUR TiME iF YOU DONT PUT iN THE EFFORT! :]

To all Future Chaffey Students!!
My name is Erika! And I will like to give you some points in how to succeed in college as a freshman student. I been attending Chaffey College for the past 2 ½ years and it has been an amazing experience at this campus. Teachers are amazing, because provide their knowledge to you.
Some of the things that I believe are “Do”s and “Don’t”s for future students at any college are the following: “Do”s- Turn everything on time, attend to class everyday (unless it is an emergency), ask questions if you do not understand, go to teachers office hours (they are there to any help you), use the college free resources (library, success center, counseling dept, etc), always arrive on time to class, and network with other students. Things that students shouldn’t do that are big “Don’t”s are for example- wait until the last minute to turn in or complete assignments, regularly missing class, stay quiet (should participate), and acting inappropriate.

The first and most important thing to remember when attending any college is to leave behing your high school teenager bad boy frame of mind exactly were it belomg, in high school as you walk to the man who hands you your diploma hand him your old feelings and thoughts. Remembering the academics you learned in high school is important, but remembering who is dating who and why the football team is boycotting the baseketball team is pointless information. This is college and this is the time were you can do and say whatever you want without fear of ridiculing or outcasting this is the time to grow up not down. Another huge thing to remember is do not step into the administration office until you are ready to give college your all. Do go ahead and waste the teachers time and yours because in college it all depends on you there are no motivational talks or teaching pushing you to be better than what you are putting out. When it is your money it is a bit more motivating. Remember to bbe open minded and be friendly there is so many people to meet and to keep in your phone this is called networking and it is the most usefull tool in college.

I have been attending Chaffey College for one full year.
I would advice all students to stay focused in class and read everything they are told to read. Staying on track of the homework, group assignments, or in class work is crucial. If one falls back in a class it could cost them a lot. They would have to retake the class and pay more money for the next semester. If students take advantage of all the programs in Chaffey like the honors program the working program the tranfer center or EOPS. Eops is a good program at school that helps students get parking stickers, bus passes, priority registration, and your own councelors. the councelors sit with you 3 times a semester to see how you are doing and they guide you trough your years here at chaffey. they choose the classes for you and take a stress out of your life. i would also suggest students take advantage of all the success centers like the math, writing and success centers. there are tutors that are willing to sit down with you and help you.
also if you are a student looking for a job, you can work at the success centers or the office, you can work at chaffey and study here at chaffey. it could be a good advantage if transportation is a problem.

just stay on top of things keep on schedule do not slack of and take advantage of all the resources in school and you should be ok

I've been attending Chaffey College for about two years now.
I know it's scary to be starting at a new school and also a new chapter of education in your life. But it's importanty to focus and not give up on yourself. College is much different then highschool. It's much more fast paced and it's real easy to fall behind in your work if you don't keep up with it.
I am telling you all this from experience. There were times where I had other things that I wanted to do other then work and I fell behind for aawhile. I know its really repetitive to say this, buts it's important to "belieave in yourself". If you don't take care of that person thats in the mirror, you will not succed.
I wish all of you the best of luck, and please work hard!!

My name is Deanna Garcia, I have been attending Chaffey College from Fall 2008 and am finishing my first year here at chaffey, Spring 2009. I enjoyed my time here very much I have one year under my belt and if feels incredible, I started with a goal in the beggining of the year and finsihed successfully, I am proud to say. Once you start with a goal and certain asperations go through with them because in the long run it will certainlly pay of and you would feel very confindent about your self. Some do's get into many activities, clubs get involved, it will enlightne you and it will strive you to succed even greater. Go to study groups and stay physical. Dont's, dont miss appoitments, dont skip class the meaterial is crucial, and you dont want to miss anything. Stay on top of all your work. Find some encentives and motivations that will keep on moving you forward. You will go through trials at times that will be tough but you will suceed in the end and will have reached your goal and have a career. Good Luck or shall I say break a leg.

This is my third semester attending for a class here at chaffey college
Do checkout Financial Aid, EOPs, student scholarships, the success center, the library, and any other assistance on campus.
Taking Ms. U's class for English 550 with computer-enhanced courses featuring the wiki is pretty fun. I liked using the wiki, because it's like being in a little chat room with fellow classmates as friends. You get feedback on papers, you chan chat with fellow classmates to find out work for class or maybe homework. If we were able to post pictures of ourselves and make little profiles it would be like myspace and it would be even more enjoyable for students.

My name is Emily Touché and I am now a sophomore at Chaffey College. Some of the “do’s” for attending college are you should try your hardest to attend every day of class. Another very important thing is to actually study for test, it is a lot harder then high school classes. Finally you should get to know some people in the classes so that you can get notes or homework for a day that you missed. Then some “don’ts” are to get lazy with class. Some teachers stomp taking attendance and this might influence you to stop coming every day. Also DO THE READING! From personal experience form note liking to read the text, it really does help a lot when they decide to through some of the readings onto test. You also get to understand the topic you are studding better.

This is my second semester attending Chaffey College. It will be my first year attending here.

Do study your hardest in the class.
Do ask the teacher or a tutor for help if you need it.
Do email your teacher if there is a problem, didnt attend class for some reason, or just ask question.
Do apply for financial ad, EOPS, student scholarships, etc.

Do not doubt that you can never do the work because its too hard.
Do not go on myspace and facebook during class.
do not under estimate that you dont have todo the hours in order to pass the class.

Taking Ms. U's computer-enhanced courses, featuring this Wiki was helpful in my wirting. I learned alot and was able to input my work onto this wiki so i can get comments about my essays. So later i can revise the essay and get a good grade. The feedback helped me alot. Take the time to listen to people's feedbacks.

I have been a student in Chaffey College for two years. Being a college student, it was a transfer from a teenager into an adult for me. Compare to high school, every things have become a lot more serious in college. People in college are always busy. Working and going to school for full time.

Remember when I was in high school, there was a lot of laughing in classes. People like to gather together between school break. Unfortunately, things do go the same in college. People in college are more independent. Classes do not go in between break or lunch. Every class will be select in different time, and it is very important to understand you goal is the future in order to select any classes. The best way to get more comfortable about college system is to visit the administration office to see a counselor.

There are a lot of professors in Chaffey College; they may not only work in one college. Therefore, they may not be able to stay around campus just like high school teacher. When you need help about class assignment, the best way is to ask in class period.
